It happens to the best of us - we get so focused on our careers that we get stressed out and forget to take time for ourselves. I think we are all guilty of doing this at some point. It is a well known fact that you will perform better in your work life when you have taken time to de-stress and relax your mind, body and soul.
Having a healthy work/life balance is so important and while everyone’s version of relaxing is different, we have rounded up a few of our favorite ways to stay relaxed when we are feeling stressed.
Doing yoga or meditating might seem like the obvious form of exercise to relax, but even if you enjoy high intensity work outs like spinning or kick boxing, escaping your mind and releasing your stress and anxiety through exercise is a great way to relax. It is also proven that exercising in the day will help you sleep better at night. If you can work anything from a 45 minute exercise class to a morning hike into your daily routine then you’re on the right track!
Although reading a book might not be everyones’ favorite thing to do when not at work, when you find the right book, you might change your mind. By reading stories, we escape our own minds and enter another world so to speak. Whether you like to read novels, essays or even the newspaper, reading for 30 minutes every day will allow us to forget what we have going on and focus on something else and refresh our minds.
In the mornings we drink coffee to help us kick start our day, and some people like to drink tea in the evenings to unwind. While a glass of wine might also do the trick and is totally acceptable after a long day of work, Yogi Kava Stress Relief Tea is a delicious hot drink that contains special herbs that help you de-stress. The tea is said to reduce anxiety and makes you feel good all over. It also contains no caffeine so it will not keep you awake at night.
LISTEN TO MUSIC
We have been listening to music for thousands of years to help us relax and it works! The magical part about music is that it is subjective, and everyone has a different preference. Whether you listen to country music, hip hop or french jazz, switching on your favorite genre for 30 minuets a day will not only help you unwind but it will also make you feel inspired and refreshed for work the next day. You could also try a relaxation tape of waves crashing and birds tweeting…it works in the movies right?!
FIND A HOBBY
There are plenty of sports and activities that are proven to be therapeutic. If you’re more athletic, you can try a sport like golf or swimming. If you’re more creative, you could try painting or knitting. Whatever your preference is, finding a hobby that you can work into your weekly routine will help take the edge off and get you feeling excited about something new!
In addition to these wonderful rituals that will help you lead a less stressed life, we our excited to announce the launch of our new Blue Lace Agate bracelet that helps to ease stress and promotes a healthy, balanced lifestyle. You can shop our new bracelet and the rest of our collection HERE.
It is hard to believe that we are already almost 6 months into the year. It seems like yesterday we were celebrating the holidays! With summer quickly approaching and officially beginning on June 20th, the My Mahana team have been discussing the importance of going into the summer months with the right intentions.

If you’re taking the summer off for relaxation or working hard on a new project, it is important to maintain balance in your lifestyle. If you’re traveling, consider keeping a journal of all your experiences to keep your brain stimulated. If you’re cooped up in an office working, head to the beach for the weekend to free your mind. It is so important to have a balanced way of living so we can make positive and clear decisions. Our Balance Intention Bracelet is a perfect reminder of this and is beautifully crafted with Crazy Lace Agate.

Whether you find peace at the beach, at the gym or even sleeping in late, it is key that you take time to do this over summer. Our Calm Intention bracelet is made from Blue Tigers Eye and is designed to bring serenity to the wearer, relieving stress and anxiety and bringing peace.
It is officially bikini season and now is the time to be focused on your physical health more than ever. That being said, our mental health is just as important as our physical health. The Mahana Wellness Bracelet is designed to bring the intention of health and well-being to the wearer. Amethyst is a positive stone and works to promote a healthy mental and physical being. It helps to improve mental awareness and when worn in the workplace will help with stress, anxiety and depression.

Mediating is a great practice, but it can be very difficult to achieve a peaceful meditation. These 3 essentials will aid you to achieve Zen every time you meditate:
Tip: Use candles for light. Candles can create a more peaceful state with their natural light versus florescent lights.
Tip:Choose a corner or enclosed area in your house dedicated to mediating. A designated, clutter free area will make it easier for you to habitually meditate knowing you have your go to space.
3. Intention: One of the hardest aspects about meditating is trying to stay focused. Setting an intention before meditating will help prevent becoming scatter brained. Not only does setting an intention help create focus, it also makes one more aware of their thoughts, actions and emotions.
Tip: Write down your intention prior to meditating. If you write it, see it, say it and think it you are more likely to keep on track. Keep a mediation journal to track your intentions.
Remember to make your meditation practice your own. When new to meditation it may seem like a foreign exercise and you may experience a hard time turning off your mind and focusing. Keep practicing, in time it will become easier to achieve stillness in your mind and begin to experience the positive effects of meditation.
When you observe a piece of Labroadorite you will see its shimmering hues of blues and greys. The Inuit people believe that it fell from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis, creating this magical looking crystal. Labradorite is one of the most powerful stones in the crystal world, it holds a protective energy which helps to create a space filled with positive energy.
Often associated with the Crown Chakra (at the top of your head) Labradorite is connected to the energy of the mind. When you wear Labradorite or place it near you it creates a sense of clarity and eases intuition, making it a great stone to have in your office or workspace.
Today, our offices and work spaces have become cluttered with computers, devices and technology. These devices can often create distractions and unneeded stress. Crystals placed in the workspace not only add to the décor, but also absorb negative and excess energy created by our devices. By placing crystals within our space we create a helpful reminder to take time to distress and stay positive.
Where to place crystals in the work place:

That’s why Adrianne Haslet-Davis and the Limbs for Life Foundation was the perfect collaboration for our newest strength bracelet. Adrianne survived the unimaginable Boston Marathon bombings in 2013 and lost her left leg below the knee. In the wake of the marathon, she has become an inspiration to others through her positive attitude and willingness to find strength in herself and not fall victim to her hardship.
The Limbs for Life Foundation is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to providing fully-functional prosthetic care for individuals who cannot otherwise afford it and raising awareness of the challenges facing amputees.
The core of My Mahana’s values is to give the wearer of our bracelets strength and stability through times of change and provide guidance and clarity in difficult situations.
“I love the message of being strong in life and setting the intention each day,” Adrianne says of the My Mahana collection. “Those wearing the bracelet can set their intention of what they will be strong for for the day, whether that is a business meeting, a difficult conversation or an obstacle they need to overcome.”
Adrianne completely embodies the My Mahana lifestyle, spreading positive intent and inspiring those around her to be strong even in times of pain.
"I refuse to be called a victim. I am not defined by what happened in my life. I am a survivor, defined by how I live my life.”
Adrianne’s strength shines through her special My Mahana bracelet, available for purchase with 30% of the proceeds going to the Limbs for Life foundation.
